Roger Federer struck gold in Beijing, but not for the event he was hoping for, when he and partner Stanislas Wawrinka beat the Swedish pair Thomas Johansson and Simon Aspelin, 6-3 6-4 6-7 6-3, in the men's doubles final.
This fantastic achievement is a good consolation for Federer, who lost in the singles quarterfinals to American, James Blake.
Elsewhere, the Bryan Brother's captured bronze for America when they defeated the top French pair of Arnaud Clement and Michael Llodra, 3-6 6-3 6-4.
